This paper presents a novel coupling between the Total Lagrangian and Eulerian formulations of Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method. It is implemented such that formulation can adaptively convert to an (referred as AdapTLE in this work) applied high-velocity impact problems. On Adaptive Eulerian-Lagrangian Method for Linear Convection-Diffusion Problems
In this paper, we consider the adaptive Eulerian–Lagrangian method (ELM) for linear convection-diffusion problems. Unlike the classical a posteriori error estimations, we estimate the temporal error along the characteristics and derive a new a posteriori error bound for ELM semi-discretization. With the help of this proposed error bound, we are able to show the optimal convergence rate of ELM f...
متن کاملLagrangian and Eulerian velocity structure functions in hydrodynamic turbulence.
The Lagrangian and Eulerian transverse velocity structure functions of fully developed fluid turbulence are found based on the inviscid Navier-Stokes equation. The structure functions are shown to obey the scaling relations S(n)(L)(tau) proportional to tau(xi(n)) and S(n)(E)(l) proportional to l(zeta(n)) inside the inertial range. The scaling exponents zeta(n) and xi(n) are calculated analytica...
متن کاملA High-Velocity Impact Simulation using SPH-Projection Method
In this paper, a new smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) algorithm for simulation of elastic-plastic deformation of solids was proposed. The key point was that materials under highvelocity impact (HVI) behave like fluids. This led to propose a method which was similar to the socalled SPH-projection method, in which the momentum equations are solved as the governing equations. The method consi...
متن کاملApplication of an Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian Method to Describe High Velocity Gas-Particle Flow Behavior
Novel computational and small-scale experimental investigations were performed in order to better understand the high velocity flow behavior of gas-particle mixtures. The motion of solid objects impacted by the flow of the mixtures was measured by use of high-speed digital video photography. Computations were performed by use of an arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) treatment in a nonlinear fi...
